Job Description: 
We are looking for an estimator due to ongoing business demand and growth; we are searching for the next team member to add to our growing team! As an HVAC Equipment Estimator, you will be responsible for performing equipment take-offs to build and provide equipment proposals and quotes to mechanical contractors. 

 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned.
  • Performs primarily intermediate and complex HVAC take-offs from mechanical construction drawings. Intermediate and complex take-offs typically are a higher dollar amount, require a complex product mix and/or are in a physical environment that require a higher degree of knowledge and prior experience. Includes Plan/Spec Take/Off Bids and Design/Build Permit & CD Bids. Exercises independent judgment and makes final decisions for the majority of bids assigned, identifies products that require technical or pricing assistance from internal teams or vendors.
  • Achieves estimating speed and accuracy – ability to count items quickly, accurately and efficiently.
  • Follows and develops estimating strategies - collaborates with other departments to produce strategic and accurate quotations.
  • Price equipment using manufacturer pricing software / data, update bid contacts in Salesforce.
  • Research for new projects, understand if it’s a re-bid or an existing project/opportunity.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple bids. Effectively manage scope – recognizing the level of detail required to assemble and estimate based on project, drawing detail level and the customer.
  • Draft pricing quotes to provide to customers.
  • Digitally file and upkeep project documents.
  • Provide mentorship/training to the Estimating Coordinator and Estimator 1 team members as needed. Provide timely updates to team members. Assist with basic take-offs as workload demands.
  • Bids an average of 5-15 jobs per week in the range of $500,000 – $1,000,000.
  • Answer questions and provide guidance on developing projects, plans, specifications and quotes.
  • Communicate professionally and provide outstanding customer service to all Dorse stakeholders (other employees, vendors and customers).
  • Understands customer needs within our industry – knows their preferences, expectations and our role within the broader construction and HVAC infrastructure.
 
Experience and Requirements: 
Education and/or Experience
  • Required: 5+ years of prior HVAC/Construction Estimating experience and/or a combination of experience and advanced technical training or education in HVAC or a related discipline.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of GRD, dampers, fans, terminal units and specialty product selection.
  • Maintains and grows knowledge base as business demands change.
  • Experience performing take-offs using On Screen Takeoff or other related take-off programs, operates the program with advanced proficiency.
  • Understands exclusions and terminology – identifies products we can and cannot bid within bid documents.
  • Understands prior approval – reviewing equipment and specifications and identifies where approvals are required.
  • Mechanical aptitude – ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts and principles at an advanced level.
  • Understands the bid to submittal process in detail.
  • Capable of sizing GRDs based on factory performance data sheets.
  • Able to review and understand what’s relevant in specifications.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Desire to continuously improve current processes / methods / practices.
  • Proficiency in Blue Beam.
