Description:
The Warehouse  Associate is responsible for executing warehouse and counter sales support activities in accordance with established company procedures. This role performs order fulfillment, inventory handling, and customer service tasks to support daily branch operations. Responsibilities include accurately pulling and preparing orders, receiving and stocking inventory, and processing customer transactions at the counter.

This position supports customer interactions by entering orders, providing product information, and addressing routine inquiries using available systems and guidance. The role is responsible for completing assigned tasks accurately and within expected timeframes while maintaining organized inventory and workspace conditions.

The Warehouse Counter Associate operates under the direction of the Store Branch Manager or designated leadership. This position does not have authority to modify pricing, approve credits or returns outside of standard procedures, or make exceptions to established policies. Any non-standard requests, discrepancies, or customer issues must be escalated to appropriate personnel.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations; however, such duties will be reasonable, job-related, and consistent with the scope, level, and classification of the position.

Essential Functions:
  • Pull and prepare customer orders for delivery or pickup in accordance with order details and procedures
  • Load and unload inventory from carriers, vendors, and company vehicles using appropriate equipment
  • Verify incoming shipments against packing slips, invoices, and system records; report discrepancies
  • Stock and organize inventory in designated locations to maintain accuracy and accessibility
  • Process customer transactions at the counter, including order entry and basic product inquiries
  • Provide standard product information and refer technical or non-routine questions to appropriate personnel
  • Follow established procedures for cross-selling or promotional items; do not deviate from approved pricing or offers
  • Respond to routine customer inquiries; escalate complaints, discrepancies, or exceptions
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts as directed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and counter area
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment in accordance with certification and safety requirements
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
  • Report inventory issues, safety concerns, or operational problems to leadership
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, provided such duties are job-related and consistent with the scope of the role

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Work is performed in a warehouse and customer-facing counter environment
  • Frequent movement throughout the warehouse to pick, stock, and transport materials
  • Regular operation of warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks (as certified)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders and access shelving at various heights
  • Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Exposure to warehouse conditions including noise, moving equipment, and variable temperatures
  • Use of computers and standard office equipment for order entry and communication
Qualifications:
  • Education and/or Experience‐ High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required.
  • Language Skills‐ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (internal and external). Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, customers, co‐workers, vendors, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills‐ Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills‐ To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires a beginner’s level of knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Other Qualifications‐ Forklift certification or ability to get certified within first 30 days is required.
