Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Service Technician to lead our team in delivering top-quality heating, ventilation, and air conditioning services. In this role, you will manage complex installations, perform advanced diagnostics and repairs, and mentor junior technicians. You will also act as a key customer liaison, ensuring satisfaction through exceptional service and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on HVAC systems, including specialized and high-efficiency units.
Lead and supervise the work of junior and mid-level technicians, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Oversee large-scale installation and maintenance projects, ensuring timely completion and compliance with customer specifications.
Conduct comprehensive system inspections, preventative maintenance, and performance optimization.
Collaborate with customers to recommend tailored solutions, upgrades, and energy-efficient options.
Train and mentor team members, fostering professional growth and maintaining a high-performing team.
Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
Prepare and review detailed service reports, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
Respond to high-priority and emergency service calls, providing quick and effective resolutions.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends, technologies, and certifications to maintain technical expertise.
Represent the company professionally and maintain strong customer relationships.
Advanced Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve the most complex HVAC system issues, including electrical, mechanical, and airflow-related problems.
Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint system inefficiencies or failures.
Supervision and Leadership:
Oversee and direct the work of junior and mid-level technicians, providing guidance and ensuring quality standards are met.
Serve as a point of escalation for challenging technical issues and customer concerns.
Project Management:
Plan and execute large-scale installation, repair, or maintenance projects, coordinating resources, schedules, and team assignments.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to customer specifications.
Technical Expertise:
Perform complex repairs and installations, including high-efficiency and specialized HVAC systems such as geothermal or variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems.
Conduct system upgrades and retrofits to improve performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
Customer Interaction and Satisfaction:
Build strong relationships with customers by providing expert advice, clear communication, and tailored solutions.
Address customer complaints or concerns professionally and ensure satisfaction with services provided.
Training and Mentorship:
Train, mentor, and evaluate junior technicians, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
Conduct on-the-job training sessions and lead workshops to introduce new tools, techniques, or equipment.
Compliance and Safety Oversight:
Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Conduct safety inspections of tools, equipment, and job sites, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
System Design Consultation:
Collaborate with customers, engineers, and sales teams to design customized HVAC systems that meet specific needs.
Provide recommendations for energy-efficient and cost-effective system upgrades.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed service reports, project updates, and customer communication records.
Review and approve reports submitted by junior technicians for accuracy and completeness.
Sales Support and Consultation:
Identify and recommend opportunities for system enhancements, new installations, or service agreements.
Provide technical expertise during customer consultations to support sales efforts.
Emergency and Critical Response:
Take charge of emergency service calls and high-priority repairs, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
Develop response protocols for urgent issues and communicate them to the team.
Continuous Improvement and Learning:
Stay current with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and updated safety regulations.
Pursue certifications and advanced training to maintain a competitive edge in the field.
Team and Resource Management:
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure efficient use of tools, materials, and workforce.
Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance productivity and morale.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct final inspections on installations and repairs to ensure work meets company standards and customer expectations.
Develop and enforce quality control protocols for all projects.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or HVAC license required.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HVAC service, with demonstrated expertise in advanced diagnostics, repairs, and installations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) and other relevant certifications (e.g., NATE certification) preferred.
Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, and safety protocols.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, kneeling, or climbing for extended periods.
Comfortable working in various conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.
