Job Overview:
The Laborer's purpose is to participate as a team member which specializes in all types of
Cooling Tower; installation, maintenance, servicing, repair, assembly and
disassembly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in company Health and Safety Program.
- Represent Roy C. Garrett, Inc. in a professional manner, maintain and enhance customer relations when job requires interaction with customers, other co-workers, sub-contractors and others you may encounter on the job.
- Observe work hours and schedules.
- Perform no task(s) you consider dangerous to your health. Request a conference with your supervisor if this situation occurs.
- Report unsafe conditions or actions.
- Use tools in the manner designed to be used.
- Requisition materials and supplies applicable to you assigned job or duties.
- Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
- Assist in training or arrange for training of yourself and new workers.
- Follow work schedules.
- Complete work related reports as necessary.
- Oversee and assist activities of related apprentices, helpers and laborers.
- Be responsible for and accountable for company tools.
Workers will need the following characteristics.
- Good to excellent physical condition
- Good manual dexterity
- Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds
- Ability to solve basic math problems quickly and accurately
- Ability to get along well with others on a work team
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow basic written instructions
- Ability to read and measure using; tape measure, caliper(s), T-square, Framing Square, Level, Plumb Bob
- Ability to use basic power tools; Drill, Circular Saw, Saw-Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Jig Saw, Pneumatic Hammers etc.
- Ability to set-up scaffolding and be able to work off scaffolding and to disassemble scaffolding.
- Ability to work within a timeline and deal with unexpected situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to get along with all kinds of people
Experience and Requirements:
- Physically fit for the job.
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Steel Toed Footwear (boots),
- Prescription Safety Glasses (If required by employee)
- Body jewelry (ear, nose, eyebrow, lip rings) prohibited during working hours for safety reasons if you are assigned to any job site work, task(s) or duties where you may come into contact with electricity, or exposed to welding or welding task(s)
Physical Demands:
- May require working long hours, with minimal rest and under primitive conditions.
- May require exposure to harsh environmental conditions such as, wind, sunlight, rain, and temperature extremes.
- May require walking distances (few hundred feet to 1 mile), standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
- Require lifting and carrying heavy objects (75 lbs.).
- Emergencies may result in exposure to emotionally stressful situations for extended periods.
- May require driving motor vehicles for long distances.
- May require operating heavy equipment (after appropriate training) with related exposure to equipment vibrations and noise.
- May require wearing of respirator(s). {Rationale for men to have no facial hair}
