Job Description: Responsible for supporting sales, take off, and estimating activities in the estimating department. Works within support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue, profit generation, and supporting the sales group with company vision and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide experienced / senior level leadership to estimating department and responsible for take-offs and estimates for high profile projects as assigned
Provide mentorship for others in the department through training, best practices, and industry knowledge
Prepare accurate and comprehensive take-offs of HVAC products from construction plans and documents
Use estimating software and manufacturer’s software pricing programs to do costing of products
Learn manufacturer equipment selection software
Assist with bid coordination of customer bid lists in PJM Software if requested
Responsible for learning and to assist in takeoff and estimating Mechanical Reps complete product line
Responsible for the estimating / take offs of projects assigned
Review & understand bid documents: project plans, specifications, and scopes of work
Administer and review addendum(s) for changes and communicate with sales team
If requested, reviewing plans and specifications on projects and assist engineering team to work with the engineer of record for approval of Mechanical Reps manufacturers through prior approval letters
Facilitate and attend bid strategy meetings for selected high profile projects.
Attend factory product trainings if requested (expenses paid for by MRI)
Assist in special projects for the betterment of all Mechanical Reps employees
Maintain customer relationships with the Mechanical Reps business ethics policy
Attend local manufacturer trainings and weekly department meeting as required
Maintain a good relationship with all personnel within the Mechanical Reps organization
Provide general assistance to Sales Department staff
Help manage client relationships by being a point of contact on proposals as needed on bid days
Experience and Requirements:
Fully proficient in take offs and ability to price up any size project for all commodity products
Understand market demands, tendencies, and local engineer/owner design requirements
Full knowledge of bid strategy to be able to present to the sales team
Ability to estimate most hydronic/applied equipment
Minimum 4 years of HVAC industry and/or estimating experience or 3 years of estimating experience internally
Must be proficient and familiar with building construction to include MEP trade for both new construction and renovation
Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and OST On-Screen Take Off Software (preferred but not required)
Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
