The Reconstruction Service Technician I reconstructs, repairs, assembles, retrofits and maintains cooling towers and other commercial equipment as directed by the Reconstruction Foreman. This position strives to complete the scope of work to the standards of the customer and the company.

Job Description:
The Reconstruction Service Technician I reconstructs, repairs, assembles, retrofits and maintains cooling towers and other commercial equipment as directed by the Reconstruction Foreman. This position strives to complete the scope of work to the standards of the customer and the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability, and physical demands required.
- Analyzes work orders, plans daily travel schedule, investigates complaints, conducts tests and resolves problems for customer base.
- Reconstructs cooling towers and other HVAC systems by rebuilding motors, changing gears, replacing film, and other items.
- Studies system requirements, orders and gathers components and parts, completes reconstruction and performs acceptance tests to ensure appropriate operation of units.
- Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques and recommending system improvements.
- Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs.
- Completes forms, reports, logs and records for appropriate billing and labor costs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Follows all safety restrictions required by Company, Customer, OSHA and all applicable laws.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required. 1-2 years of experience with mechanical items preferred. Knowledge or experience with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.) preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, manuals, and other technical documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisors, customers, staff, vendors, etc.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with electronic mail and apps including timekeeping and expenses.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license is required. Ability to travel up to 90% of the time with overnight stays.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 5 percent of the time. The individual needs to frequently move about inside tight and cramped spaces. The individual needs to frequently move about to access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order.
- The individual frequently positions self to repair equipment, including underneath and above the object being repaired. They are frequently using hand tools to complete the work order. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other employees and customers throughout the service process. Must be able to detect mechanical issues from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken.
- The employee must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 75 pounds with others, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with others.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. They are frequently exposed to vibration. The individual performing this job is occasionally exposed to wet, humid, hot and/or cold conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. They are also exposed to dust, dirt and grease conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
